Abstract | These two agenda items present: 1) observations by the UNESCO Executive Board on the Report of the International Commission of the Development of Education, and 2) a note by the Director-General comparing the Report's recommendations to the principles of UNESCO's existing program of education. The Executive Board observes six orientations deserving special emphasis, praises the approach to two concepts, and notes four areas which lack sufficient attention. Suggestions for further study of the Report are made to the General Conference. The note by the Director-General quotes twenty-one recommendations from Chapter 8 of the Report and briefly indicates the relationship of these recommendations to the relevant provisions of UNESCO documents 17 C/4 and 17 C/5. Five statements from Chapter 9 are also examined from the same point of view. An addendum gives the page numbers for the English, French, and Spanish texts of the compared documents.
