Abstract | Part A of the Education Commission's report presents materials that provide background and general support for its recommendations concerning various aspects of Oberlin's educational program. It discusses change in higher education and goals that may be associated with the College. It believes that Oberlin should seek internal agreements on the means by which the values of educational excellence and cultural diversity can best be advanced and should seek students and faculty members in ways consistent with these agreements. The Commission also examines the significance of a B.A. degree from the College. Part B of the report deals with specific proposals for reform in the areas of curriculum, structure, evaluation and environment. These reforms are intended to increase Oberlin's flexibility.
