Abstract | The social studies curriculum guide, intended for use with 4th-grade children, was developed as part of a University of Minnesota extension course requirement offered to public school teachers. Included in this unit on American Indians are lessons in anthropology, history, geography, sociology, government, and economics. The activities included are intended to relate to the lives of the students living in the suburban structure so that they will eventually recognize their responsibilities toward citizens beyond the suburban environment.
