Abstract | Over 740 films (16 mm.) concerning the lives, culture, history, and problems of Black people in the United States and in Africa are listed alphabetically by title in this guide. Each entry includes the running time, a synopsis of the film's content, and a source code and tells whether the film is in black-and-white or in color. The guide includes a subject index and a key to the source codes which provides the names and addresses of film distributors. The films cover a wide variety of subjects including racial discrimination and prejudice; ghetto life; ancient cultures of Africa; the civil rights movement; militancy and Black Power; segregation and desegregation; political, economic, and social developments in Africa; and biographies of such well known Black people as Stokely Charmichael, Huey Newton, and Booker T. Washington. (JY) |
