Abstract | A continuation of an English program based on the thematic approach (see TE 000 846), this teacher's guide for grades 10-12 begins with an overview of the entire project, its rationale, and a discussion of the influences which shaped the thinking of the program's designers. The courses for high ability and average students are then outlined for each grade level, together with suggestions for using reading as a springboard to composition. A separate course for students of superior ability lists literary works to be studied and provides outlines for the sequential study of short stories, essays, poetry, language, grammar skills, and composition. An appendix includes a detailed explanation of the sequential program in composition for grades 10-12 and papers on such subjects as"Making Changes in How Teachers Teach,""Studying the Bible in Public School," and teaching language and composition.
