(DIPF/Orig.). Ever since the existence of a (largely sociological) theory of professions, the question of the recognition of pedagogues, particularly teachers, as professionals has been controversial. They are usually coded as a deficit-group: as "semi-professionals", with a "notorious" or "structural" "professionalization-deficit", possibly an "occupation", rarely a "profession", who work with "structural deficits" without clear "technologies" - an "impossible occupation". The argument is: That such codings are broadly useless, they point to a lack of sensitivity in the profession theory for the pedagogic field, they ignore the achievements of pedagogy and the potential of its technology. Therefore: Profession theory must be adapted so that successful pedagogical activities are not devalued as trivial, but regarded as achievements. It should specify the prerequisites for carrying out the occupation and the chances of improving the quality of pedagogic actions. (DIPF/Orig.). |
