Abstract | The author attended his first AAACE meeting in Louisville in 2004 as part of a contingent of students from the University of Tennessee. He had no idea at the time how important this organization would become to him and how much it would help him through a time of transition. At that time, he was a first-year Ph.D. student and was new to the "official" field of adult education. His professional background was in ministry, religious education, and college teaching; so he had been actively involved in educating adults for years. In this article, the author reflects on being the Chair of the Students of Adult Education Special Interest Group in which he has encountered enthusiasm, creative thinking, a wide gambit of interests and applications, care and concern for other students, passion for affecting the world through adult education, and a varied pallet of possibilities already beginning to color the world.
