Abstract | Investigated compensatory self-enhancement in Japanese and Canadian college students who completed and graded the Remote Associations Test under success of failure conditions, then completed a questionnaire containing a compensatory self-enhancement measure. Canadian students discounted negative feedback, though they did not exhibit compensatory self-enhancing responses. Japanese students were highly responsive to failure feedback and showed evidence of reverse compensatory self-enhancement. (SM) |
