Abstract | Investigated considerations of adolescents for self-referral to counselors as reported by high school students and school counselors. Counselor trustworthiness was cited as the most important factor by both groups; but counselors attributed more importance to gender and age, while adolescents emphasized counselor expertness. Discusses strategies for motivating adolescents with problems to independently approach counselors. (BF) |
