Abstract | Uses the Boston Public School system's desegregation efforts to show how desegregation of urban education can achieve school choice and improvement simultaneously. A history of student assignment plans for the Boston Public School system is presented, followed by a description of "Controlled Choice," the final and most successful comprehensive plan devised.
