Abstract | This article concludes the two issues on the College Entrance Examination (CEE) in which the contributing authors were invited to take part in a moderated discussion of their opinions on a newly unveiled national policy document titled "Blueprint for Medium and Long-Term National Education Reform and Development (2010-0)" (hereafter, the Blueprint). Facilitated by the guest editors, the authors reflected on their own scholarship in the context of the Blueprint, and what this national reform Blueprint means to the development of the Chinese educational system, especially regarding crucial issues such as quality and equality related to the CEE. The authors and the editors agreed that bolstering the institutional and resource foundations necessary to improve research on the CEE will remain a significant challenge, but that the Blueprint's open door to policy represents a step toward increased dynamism in policy research in the education arena in China.
