Abstract | This quantitative, quasi-experimental study examined the application of a business simulation against training in support of an Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system. Defining more effective training strategies is a critical concern for organizational leaders and stakeholders concerned by today's economic challenges. The scope of this study was defined in the Army's Logistics Modernization Program (LMP). The results of this study contribute to the fields of organization change management, leadership, technology, organizational excellence and learning, and adult education. This study established a framework for future research to extend the application of business simulations in support improved ERP training programs. This two-phase, quasi-experimental, quantitative design explores the application of business simulation technology against ERP systems training. The application of the ERPsim™ business simulation game from Baton Simulations in support of the Army's LMP represents a significant opportunity to strengthen the Army's ERP training programs. Through addressing the organizational change management aspect of these implementations and applying adult learning pedagogies, the support of knowledge schemas is enhanced, and learning is facilitated. This research sought to expand existing research on business simulations exploring both the affective and cognitive value of the technology as defined by Bloom's taxonomy.
