AbstractThis bimonthly newsletter provides information about the progress of the Honor States Grant Program, a governor-led effort to improve college--and work-ready graduation rates. This issue spotlights the "supply-side" of high school redesign, exploring how state policymakers are working to expand the supply of high-quality high schools. The approaches of three states to expand the supply of excellent public schools are highlighted. Suggested resources for policymakers are included. Contents include: (1) Facts at a Glance; (2) Rising to the Challenge: Indiana, North Carolina, and New York Expand the Supply of High-Quality Public High Schools; (3) A Bird's-Eye View: Bringing New Charter School Models to Scale: Policies Across the States; (4) Venture Educator: Ted Mitchell and The NewSchools Venture Fund Support Partnerships that Build Supply to Increase Education Options for Families in Poverty; (5) Federal Update: The America COMPETES Act Signed Into Law; (6) Resource Box: The Bridgespan Group, The Center on Reinventing Public Education, The Center on Education Policy, and Education Sector; (7) Foundation Corner: The NewSchools Venture Fund, The Bradley Foundation, and The Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation; (8) Non-Negotiable: 10-Year Goals Support High School Redesign by Bringing Greater Attention to Supply Considerations; and (9) What's Next: How State Policy Can Promote an Expansion of Available Schooling Options that Serve all Students.
