Abstract | This package includes the final report and selected products of the Adult education eXpress Intercommunication Support (AXIS) project, which was conducted to facilitate communication related to professional development services administered by the Pennsylvania Department of Education's Bureau of Adult Basic and Literacy Education (ABLE) and communication to the bureau itself through development and coordination of print materials, an Internet presence, online connectivity, and general communications. The project report details the following project activities and outcomes: publication of the 1996 edition of the "ABLE Directors Handbook"; reworking of the Professional Development Centers (PDC) newsletter template; development of a website devoted to ABLE in Pennsylvania; production of statewide publications funded by the Bureau of ABLE; coordination of online communication among PDCs; compilation of monthly schedules of PDC events; publication of the 1996-1997 edition of the directory of ABLE providers in Pennsylvania; and production of several other publications. Also included are the following products of the AXIS project: EQUAL (Educational Quality for Adult Literacy) year 2 final report; three issues of the newsletter "EQUAL Update"; four issues of the newsletter "Action Update"; PDC brochure; catalogue of free materials for ABLE programs; and directory of ABLE services in Pennsylvania in 1996-1997.
