| Abstract | This document consists of a brief final report and a handbook from a project conducted to develop family numeracy activities and incorporate them into adult basic and literacy education (ABLE) classes in two Pennsylvania counties. The 10 activities, which were designed to help adult learners foster the development of numeracy concepts/skills in their young children, cover the following topics: sizing, ordering, classification, one-to-one correspondence, counting, geometric shapes, units of length/distance, money, arithmetic operations, time, temperature, and fractions. The activities were pilot tested with 28 students in an ABLE classroom and packaged into learning packets that were distributed to parents involved in Even Start, Head Start, and adult basic education programs in Washington and Greene counties. Appended to the final report are the following: a chart detailing student/tutor evaluations of the activities, sample parent evaluations and staff/tutor questionnaires, and the staff/tutor handbook. Included in the handbook are information on numeracy and parents' role in teaching numeracy skills, descriptions of the 10 activities, and sample staff/tutor and parent evaluations for each activity.
