Abstract | Intended as a companion piece to volume 2 in the Method Series, Environmental Health Planning (CE 024 230), this second of six volumes in the International Health Planning Reference Series is a combined literature review and annotated bibliography dealing with environmental factors in health planning for developing countries. The review identifies literature relevant to the areas of clean water supply, wastewater and excreta disposal, treatment of disposal of solid wastes, and pest control (including the use of pesticides). Additional environmental health hazards discussed to a lesser extent are occupational health issues, radiation hazards, air quality, food sanitation, noise, and housing issues. The 462 references included in the review are contained in the bibliography which divides the references into these areas: general environmental health; water; wastewater and excreta disposal; solid wastes; pesticides, pests, and pest control; radiation; occupational health; air quality; food sanitation; noise; and housing. The format for each entry is author, title, source or publisher, date of publication, and annotation. (YLB) |
