Abstract | The handbook is designed to guide coordinators of cooperative vocational education programs who will be able to relate the material to their fields of specialization. Chapter 1 introduces cooperative vocational education, general and specific objectives, definitions of areas related to cooperative education, and discusses part G of the 1968 Vocational Amendments. Chapter 2 describes the role of the cooperative teacher-coordinator and the responsibilities of the total job. Chapter 3 discusses instruction in cooperative vocational education and critical tasks related to teaching. Chapter 4 focuses on guidance and placement. Chapter 5 concentrates on coordination activities and community involvement. Chapter 6 outlines public relations activities, and chapter 7 is devoted to the organization and responsibilities of advisory committees. Chapter 8 examines youth organizations and their objectives. Chapter 9 studies the relationship of adult education to cooperative education, program and curriculum development in this area, promotion methods, and evaluation. Chapter 10 concludes with an outlook on providing for research in cooperative vocational education. References are found at the end of each chapter. Appendixes present sample forms and a checklist of program evaluation criteria. (JB) |
