Abstract	The final report of the planning phase of Project COULD (Career Orientation Utilizing Language Development) serves a dual purpose: It provides a summary description of the overall project and of each of the units; and it records the interim and final evaluations. Project COULD was conceived as a partial answer to the problem that 60 percent of the children in Coos County had reading difficulties. The project then utilized career concepts indigenous to Coos County to simultaneously improve language skills and provide an early awareness of career opportunities with the development of 18 preliminary units incorporating the following basic objectives: career awareness, language development, and specific unit characteristics. The project evaluation was in two stages. First to assess the conduct of the project, and second to assess the quality level of materials and activities produced. The final evaluative overview showed that the success of the project was due to: (1) the immediate specification of measurable objectives, and (2) the preparation of exemplary curriculum units. The remaining two-thirds of the document includes five appendixes: unit summaries and evaluations, minutes of interim progress review meetings, a calendar of anticipated due dates, exemplary model units, and job descriptions.
