Abstract	The specific objectives of the HEGIS conference reported in this document were: (1) to develop and publish a set of recommendations for the future content and conduct of the HEGIS program; (2) to develop and publish a set of recommendations for the survey instruments to be used in HEGIS VII for the years 1972-73; (3) to develop and publish guidelines and both long- and short-range plans for the further development of cooperation, coordination and cost-sharing between the states and the federal government for the purposes of data acquisition, processing, and dissemination; (4) to obtain consensus among the conferees on the priorities assigned to the recommendations; and (5) to develop recommendations for specific mechanisms for implementing conference recommendations. Such recommendations, plans, and guidelines are presented in the present report. (HS)
