Abstract | This paper analyzes and prescribes needed educational services which could be best offered to black students by different kinds of institutions. While addressing themselves to undergraduate academic education universities should concentrate primarily upon their graduate and professional education programs and their research and public service projects. Private four year colleges should emphasize undergraduate academic education, and the community junior colleges should best focus on undergraduate academic and vocational-technical education and public service. A few "truly black" institutions free from dominance by the white power structure are also needed. These black institutions should become centers for research and public service for the black community. Recommendations are made for ways to strengthen these directions. (KG) |
