Abstract | The literature of the period 1994-95 was reviewed under three main viewpoints: (l) the theoretical development underlying the research on teaching; (2) the main trends observed in research methods; and (3) the themes dealt with and the meaningful results in this research area. The themes of research could be organised around the actors of the teaching act: (l) the teacher analysed under two broad viewpoints: on one hand, his/her behaviours and, on the other hand, his/her thinking including values, aims and decision making; (2) the pupil studied under his/her engagement considered under the mediating processes point of view, e.g. the motor, motivational and cognitive aspects.
