Abstract | This article presents a model for integrated computer lab and classroom implementation of the interactive videodisc program Lernexpress and for adapting a textbook-based syllabus to standalone video materials. Using a portable videodisc player and bar-coded materials, teachers preview each new program in class in order to prepare students for the linguistic and cultural content. Students complete the core work on Lernexpress in the lab with the help of a software companion. The software emphasizes listening comprehension, offers tools for negotiating meaning, tracks performance and keeps activity logs for access by teachers. (Verlag). |
