Abstract | The Association for the Development of Teaching German in France (ADEAF) strives to promote a modern language in collaboration with, among others the Modern Language Teachers Association and several other specialist associations (Italian, Russian, Polish). Their objective is indeed a common one: to foster multilingualism and intercultural education. How should multilingualism be considered? For the individual it could be considered as a form of personal wealth, but whose limits quickly become apparent. For a country it can be considered as a form of collective wealth whose multiple possibilities spring immediately and easily to the imagination. The role of the school is not to turn out a standard product, but to train and create citizens in the richness of their differences and the diversity of their skills. (DIPF/taken from the summary). |
