Abstract | The three articles in this bulletin address various education problems in Latin America. Ernesto Schiefelbein ("Seven Strategies for Raising the Quality and Efficiency of the Education System") proposes seven educational strategies to confront existing problems, limitations, and the failure to retain students with few socioeconomic resources. Nine tables of data about various countries describing matriculation and dropouts are provided. Hugo Rudolfo Lovisolo ("Two Models for Adult Education") analyzes the problems, characteristics, and dilemmas surrounding adult education in Latin America, particularly in the context of the Educational Foundation of Brazil. Jeanette Morris ("Adult Education for Language Improvement") presents the results of an innovative program for language teaching in Trinidad and Tobago. The program was developed in response to student dissatisfaction and placed emphasis on oral ability. Brief reports on various research projects in progress also are included. (NL) |
