Abstract | This report describes the development of a computerized data management system using microcomputers. Intended to assist teachers and administrators in vocational centers in managing competency-based vocational education (CBVE) instructional programs, the system was designed to be used on an individual computer, be used in networking, or be transferred to a mainframe computer. The computerized data management system was produced on diskettes compatible with TRS-80, IBM PC, and IBM-compatible computers. An appendix contains the handbook that consists of explanations for all printouts on the mainframe computer as well as copies of all printouts on the microcomputer. Descriptions of the various documents and printouts comprising the system are organized around three basic sections that correspond to three data management concerns faced in implementing competency-based learning--documenting program and task requirements, monitoring individual and class progress, and documenting and reporting mastery. A brochure explaining the computerized management system is also appended. (YLB) |
