Abstract | This report examines the state of the art of utilizing cost-benefit methodologies to evaluate the returns on investments in vocational education. The objectives and format of the report and the literature search methodology employed in it are outlined. Presented next is an overview of the diverse literature related to cost-benefit analysis, including discussions of literature relating to the economics of education, cost-benefit and educational evaluation theories, cost-benefit applications in vocational education, and vocational education data sources. A total of 32 abstracts of some of the major literature in each of these areas is provided. Included in the final section of the report are bibliographies of works in each of the areas. (Related reports on other components of the project and the final project report are available separately through ERIC--see note.) (MN) |
