Abstract | This student job guide is designed to assist students in making decisions by providing information regarding the options available to them. The guide is comprised of three major parts. Part 1 is designed to introduce and train students in the important aspects of job finding. It covers the following topics: evaluate youself, nontraditional jobs, job application worksheet, how to find jobs, the job interview, and more pointers (on the resume, salary, and discrimination). The second part of the guide is designed to encourage students to get additional training. Information is provided regarding agencies or programs in Alaska that can provide additional training. Agencies discussed include apprenticeship programs, military, the Alaska Skills Center, community colleges; and CETA programs. The final part of the guide contains essential placement information. It is divided into two components: agencies that can assist students in finding jobs and large employers. Appended material includes a self-evaluation worksheet, job application worksheet, and a sample resume. (LRA) |
