Abstract	This project, conducted by the Southern California Community College Institutional Research Association, was designed to provide a needs assessment of aging and retired persons in Southern California in the area of vocational education and to provide training for researchers and occupational education coordinators in survey research methodologies. More specifically, the project was an attempt to discover which areas of occupational retraining older adults would be interested in pursuing; what auxiliary services would have to be provided; and the nature and extent of curriculum modification necessary to provide these potential students with a satisfactory educational experience. More than 18 institutions participated in the research; seven are represented in results reported in this document. Workshops were held and a questionnaire devised to determine the unique needs of participating colleges. Data from this survey indicated that older adults had a wide variety of needs and interests which should be taken into account in program planning; that the community college has an important role to play in meeting the educational and retraining needs of the elderly, particularly in pre-retirement assistance programs and post-retirement employment opportunities. The needs assessment questionnaire with resultant data and a project evaluation with relevant tables are appended. (Author/JS)
