Abstract | The authors report on a pilot project designed to integrate habits of mind into a skills-based first-year seminar. This project featured the development of a curriculum map outlining the primary learning objectives for seven habits of mind--curiosity, perseverance, introspection, courage, humility, empathy, and civility--and this study shares that curriculum map and insights learned from the piloting of this alternative curriculum. The authors discuss how this habits of mind-centered curriculum will contribute to existing literature concerning the value of habits of mind in undergraduate education and the logistical challenges of their introduction and integration into existing courses and curricula.
