Abstract | "This book explores international student experiences and their employability. Increasingly in a globalized education system, employability has become a key purpose of higher education and one of the main reasons for international students to study abroad. Much of the existing literature on internationalization focuses on the challenge to students and educators of managing student transition to a new learning environment and culture. This has undoubtedly placed a significant impact on student learning experiences and career-oriented skill development. Nevertheless, the question of how studying abroad impacts international students' employability remains as a critical issue both for students themselves and for educators and universities. Similarly, research suggests that there is a potential mismatch between employability skills promoted by the universities and those expected by home and overseas employers. Resultant differences present further challenges for international graduates whether they wish to work in host countries or in their home countries. In this special issue, we invite contributions that highlight the theoretical and practical aspects on international student employability"--Provided by publisher. |
