Abstract	In this article, the author shares his response to James Hartley's "Reflections on 50 years of teaching psychology". Hartley concludes that the teaching of psychology has changed relatively little over the past several decades. The author states that his way of teaching now is very different from his way of 1975. This essay is about the difference. It is the result of more than three decades of research informing teaching through a theory called the "theory of successful intelligence". The author contends that Hartley is correct that, in general, the teaching of psychology has not changed much in 50 years. But it can and should. It is time to teach in a way that allows all motivated students to succeed, not just those who happen to learn in traditional ways. (Contains 2 tables.) (ERIC).
