Abstract | The purpose of this study was to gather student affairs professionals' perceptions of the knowledge and skills needed to effectively help students. Using the Delphi method, 159 entry-level and mid-level student affairs administrators from institutions across the United States were surveyed regarding their perceptions of the helping skills they use as part of their work. Their responses provide important insight into the types of helping knowledge and skills needed for efficacious practice in student affairs. This information can be used in preparation programs and for professional development efforts. (Contains 3 tables.) (As Provided). |
