Abstract | Schools need collaboration to keep teachers and students learning and for the implementation of new ideas. Community college students who strive to become teachers can learn to collaborate with colleagues. Through a review of literature, this paper presents a variety of purposes, definitions, types and methods of collaboration. A practical guide to the different types of teacher collaboration is included. Subsequently, recommendations are made regarding training future teachers in collaborative techniques. Community college education majors need to have assigned and voluntary group experiences. They should work in small and large groups. Technology provides low-risk, convenient opportunities for creative sharing. Scheduled self-reflection fosters analysis of the collaborative process. There should be multiple opportunities to practice collaboration. (Contains 2 tables.) (As Provided). |
