Abstract | At RMIT University, students may now elect to study infectious diseases through a course called Outbreak--The Detection and Control of Infectious Disease. Outbreak was designed to simulate in an online class the effective teamwork required to bring resolution to outbreak crises and enable frameworks for future prevention. The appropriateness of the course design was investigated by using the process of Action Research in Teaching and Learning (ARTL) (Kemmis and McTaggart 1988) and the Index of Learning Styles (ILS) tool (Felder and Solomon 1991). Although the study was limited by the size of the sample group, it revealed evidence of discernable learning-style differences among students. (Contains 4 figures.) (Author). |
