Abstract	A growing body of research confirms that parents have a profound impact on their children's educational attainment, particularly in the secondary grades. Yet many Latino parents, particularly those of first-generation college students, lack information and knowledge about what their children need to prepare for college and are less likely to help them select high school courses or discuss college options. To involve parents, schools should learn about the local community and find people who can act as linguistic and cultural liaisons. Schools can help parents develop advocacy skills and give them opportunities to put those skills into action. (ERIC).
