| Abstract | Shooting the basketball is the skill that is the most frequently practiced by those who play the game. Just like any other skill, shooting the basketball requires proper mechanics and adequate practice. This article provides physical educators and coaches with information to help students and athletes become more skilled in shooting a basketball. Many of the activities in this article have been written about and discussed in the past, but this article gives physical educators and coaches an opportunity to revisit these activities in light of the B.E.E.F. acronym (Balance, Eyes, Elbow in, and Follow through), which helps students and athletes remember the keys to successful shooting in basketball. This article first describes each part of the B.E.E.F. acronym, and then provides sample activities that physical educators and coaches can use to work on each area of the acronym.
