Abstract | Schools are the place where the interests of the child and the family join those of the state, and where past, present and future converge. As such, public education is not only responsible for the advancement of socialization but also of transformation. In this article, the author discusses the dual role of public education. As an instrument of socialization, public education is responsible for the identity formation of young people. Public education's role in transformation requires that it must look beyond current priorities in order to prepare young people for a better tomorrow. (ERIC). |
