Abstract | The author, as the incoming president of American Association of School Administrators (AASA) contemplated the enormous leadership challenges before him, devoted considerable time and thought to what he would propose as his agenda for his term. After reflecting with pride on the association's past efforts to be the "voice in the dark" proclaiming that the children, all the children, are the most valuable resource, he realized the theme, Stand Up for Public Education[TM], developed under the leadership of John Lawrence several years ago, continues to be the association's call to action. To support this theme, AASA must play a leadership role in providing the education leaders of the country with the tools and skills they need to successfully implement change and continuous improvement. They must help unite all education's stakeholders--administrators, parents, community leaders, business leaders and their elected officials--to give the children the education they deserve. It is children's right and education leaders' responsibility. (ERIC). |
