Abstract | Australia has granted degrees to off-campus students for years. Presents three mistaken premises upon which much of American arguments against distance education are based: educational quality should be compared with something approximating ideal, rather than average education; distance education should closely resemble conventional education; and distance education students are basically similar to students who benefit from conventional education.
