Abstract | Minority students are negatively affected by the surge of new, unqualified teachers. Teacher education must prepare quality candidates who can succeed in diverse classrooms. They must be empowered with knowledge of educational research and pedagogy and a conviction to advocate on behalf of diverse students, thus balancing the scales of educational policymaking and ensuring a quality, equal education for all.
