Abstract | Develops a heuristic model of grieving that challenges assumptions that grieving is time-limited and that the bereaved should detach themselves completely from emotional ties to the deceased. Includes three sets of reactions and grief tasks, and states that the basic loss continues to exist. Unlike resolved or chronic grief, this continuing grieving or loss does not significantly impair everyday functioning. (JPS) |
