Abstract | Compares black higher education philosophies in the early 1960's with those of the late 1960's and early 1970's finding that although both stress socialization, the early 1960's emphasized scholarship, pedagogy and integration, whereas the late 1960's advocated political consciousness, the black perspective, and scholarship and pedagogy as necessities for black survival and development.
