Abstract | Former NFL football star Deion Sanders set off controversy when he announced he was leaving his post as head football coach at Mississippi's Jackson State University, a historically Black college or university (HBCU), to go to University of Colorado. Jonathan E. Collins discusses how the concept of HBCUs could be taken up by public schools that primarily serve Black students. This would be preferable to considering majority Black schools as segregation failures lacking in resources. (As Provided). |
