Abstract | In a study of military orientations of 98 Black high school sophmores in selected nonmetropolitan East Texas counties and iii Black sophmores from a Houston, Texas high school, the following hypotheses were examined: (1) nonmetropolitan Blacks have a more positive orientation toward military service than metropolitan Blacks; (2) lower-class metropolitan boys with high occupational aspirationshave more positive orientations to military service than other metropolitan youth. While the hypotheses were unsupported, relevant inferences are drawn and suggestions offered for future study. (Author/EH) |
