| Abstract | This research builds upon the discourse surrounding digital natives. A literature review into the digital native phenomena was undertaken and found that researchers are beginning to identify the digital native as not one cohesive group but of individuals influenced by other factors. Primary research by means of questionnaire survey of technologies used by students in three countries was carried out. Findings identify a number of differences in the technologies preferred by students for education and those used in their social lives. From being one digital native, it may be clearer to look to the culture and region of where the student lives and is educated and the "tribe" they belong to rather than assume there is one digital native population.
