Abstract | With the growth rate of online learning outpacing traditional face-to-face instruction, universities are beginning to recognize the importance of strategic planning in its development. Making the case for online learning requires sound project management practices and an understanding of the business models on which it is predicated. The objective of the present case study is to provide a replicable integrated model for the development of online programs. The case study examines a coordinated decentralized model for collaborative project development and presents the lessons learned from the program's implementation. The case provides information for reflection on how adaptations and modifications affected program development and how these short-cycle decisions present a model of effective practices for future initiatives.
