Abstract | The author started teaching world history during his first year of teaching at Harlingen High School. To be given such an assignment, because of the breadth of the course, in one's first year might be considered a great misfortune. However, looking back, the author would not have preferred it any other way. World history quickly became his passion. In fact, he must have made a good impression because he was asked to teach Advanced Placement (AP) World History the subsequent year. In approaching world history, and in particular AP World History, the author has set some ambitious goals for himself and her students. The author shares that students who leave his class have attained a set of organizational skills that will help them be successful beyond their class. These organizational skills are discussed in this paper. (Contains 2 notes.) (ERIC). |
