Abstract | The Smithsonian Science Education Center (SSEC) serves K-12 students and teachers, school districts, state education agencies, and ministries of education throughout the world with curriculum materials, digital resources, professional development, leadership development (through our Leadership and Assistance for Science Education Reform [LASER] model), and outreach to over 3.7 million people and growing. Through this 5-year strategic plan, the vision is that by 2026, all K-12 students and teachers are engaged, inspired, and equipped to act on scientific issues that affect the nation and world. SSEC plans to accomplish this vision through their three programmatic goals by promoting active, authentic, inquiry-based science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) teaching and learning; ensuring diversity, equity, accessibility, and inclusion in STEM education; and advancing K-12 STEM education for sustainable development.
