Abstract	This qualitative phenomenological research study investigated the lived experiences of five successful first generation Hispanic college students. Participants' interviews were analyzed using Creswell's (2007) six steps for analyzing phenomenological studies. Findings from this study affirm the factors for student success in college regarding their persistence towards graduation. These factors included: commitment, expectations, support systems, feedback, involvement, and the learning process. Other findings from this study included the importance of role models and mentorships for students throughout their college experience. The building of relationships assisted the students through the transition into college as well as maneuvering through the barriers and challenges while in college. Findings also emphasized the importance of family influences, financial obligations, and self-transformation.
