Abstract | This memorandum describes the SAT participation and performance for the Montgomery County (Maryland) Public Schools (MCPS) Class of 2013 compared with the graduating seniors in Maryland and the nation. Detailed results of SAT and ACT by high school and student group for graduates in 2011-2013 are included. MCPS students continue to outperform the state of Maryland and the nation on the SAT, according to the "2013 College-bound Seniors" report released by the College Board. The mean SAT combined score (1648) for the MCPS Class of 2013 was 192 and 150 points higher than those for public school graduates (1456) in the state and graduates in the nation (1498), respectively. From 2011 to 2013, MCPS graduates improved the mean SAT combined scores by 11 points, while the scores for Maryland public school graduates and graduates nationwide declined by 16 and 2 points, respectively.
